Whatever Happened to MISHA? A New Flower Arch Adds to the Brooklyn Restaurant Mystery
More than two and a half years after MISHA began teasing its arrival on Instagram, the Brooklyn restaurant still hasn’t opened. But a recent addition outside has us wondering again: could something finally be happening?
During a walk past the building the other week, one can’t help but notice a floral arch framing the MISHA signage. After such a long wait, even a change to the exterior is enough to catch our attention.
Who put it there? Was it installed by the restaurant’s owners? And does it actually signal an opening—or simply give passersby something new to speculate about?
For now, we don’t have those answers.

A Long Time Coming
We previously covered MISHA in December 2024, when the planned kosher Mediterranean restaurant appeared to be moving toward an opening at 1635 Coney Island Avenue. The distinctive standalone building at Coney Island Avenue, Avenue M, and Chestnut Avenue previously housed Wolf and Lamb’s Brooklyn location.
At the time, extensive renovations and newly installed signage suggested that diners might soon get a look inside. In hindsight, our anticipation was premature.
The restaurant remains unopened, and its Instagram account, @misha_brooklyn, has been quiet, with its last post dating to June 2024. The early opening teasers have given way to a much longer wait than anyone following the project likely expected.
A Floral Clue?
The newly noticed floral installation adds a little intrigue to an otherwise quiet storefront. Greenery and flowers now surround the restaurant’s name, giving the exterior a more finished, decorated appearance.
It is tempting to read that as progress. But we don’t know who arranged the installation, when exactly it went up, or whether it has any connection to plans to welcome diners.
A flower arch is certainly a change. An opening announcement would be a considerably more useful one.
Across the Street, Lutali Carne Has Opened
Meanwhile, the dining scene directly across the street has moved forward.
Lutali Carne, which we covered while it was still preparing to open, is now operating at 1640 Coney Island Avenue. Its website offers reservations, menus, and online ordering.
That makes the contrast particularly noticeable: one restaurant has gone from an anticipated arrival to a place where you can book dinner in only a matter of months, while MISHA’s opening remains a question mark for close to three years.
We would still like to see what MISHA brings to the neighborhood. For now, though, there is no confirmed opening date to share, and the flowers leave us with more questions than answers.
